Architectural Review Committee
Posted on Jan 29th, 2022
Architectural Review Committee
The SMPOA Board would like to form a new Architectural Review Committee of residents who would like to volunteer to serve.  The architect who previously reviewed plans and changes is retiring. We know that many of you have engineering, architecture and/or design backgrounds that would really come in handy to review some of the request we get for changes and new construction.  The committee would consist of a board member and several residents who would not be board members.  Please email if you are interested. We will compile a list of those interested and will get back in touch with those on the list.  Thanks

Updating Security Camera System
Posted on Jul 23rd, 2020
SMPOA is currently in the process of upgrading our security camera system.  We will be installing two state of the art 24/7 color video cameras at the entrance to Santa Maria.  These cameras will replace two of our existing cameras, and will allow us to view color images of vehicles at night time.  The current cameras, like most, convert to black and white at night.  This upgrade along with the license plate reader cameras will provide much better vehicle identification.
The security cameras along Spyglass Hill were just upgraded with a new more powerful transmitter and receiver that fixed the problems we were having with the golf course cameras.
SMPOA also invited the Sheriff Department to attend our last board meeting to discuss ways to improve security in Santa Maria. They indicated that Santa Maria has a very low incidence of calls and events but they did have some suggestions.  One suggestion we are implementing is giving the Sheriff Department access to our security camera servers from their sub station which will allow them much quicker access to review all the cameras for evidence after an incident.
The officers also told us it would be very helpful if we would start a voluntary list  which would include homes in Santa Maria that have security cameras installed.  The list would indicate which homeowners would be willing to allow the Sheriff Department to come view the recorded videos after a nearby crime was committed to look for evidence.  Now they currently have to walk down the street and inspect homes to see if they can find a security camera on a house nearby that may have helpful video footage. If you are interested in adding your name to such a list, please reply to the email that was sent to residents.
