Updating Security Camera System
Posted on Jul 23rd, 2020

SMPOA is currently in the process of upgrading our security camera system.  We will be installing two state of the art 24/7 color video cameras at the entrance to Santa Maria.  These cameras will replace two of our existing cameras, and will allow us to view color images of vehicles at night time.  The current cameras, like most, convert to black and white at night.  This upgrade along with the license plate reader cameras will provide much better vehicle identification.

The security cameras along Spyglass Hill were just upgraded with a new more powerful transmitter and receiver that fixed the problems we were having with the golf course cameras.

SMPOA also invited the Sheriff Department to attend our last board meeting to discuss ways to improve security in Santa Maria. They indicated that Santa Maria has a very low incidence of calls and events but they did have some suggestions.  One suggestion we are implementing is giving the Sheriff Department access to our security camera servers from their sub station which will allow them much quicker access to review all the cameras for evidence after an incident.

The officers also told us it would be very helpful if we would start a voluntary list  which would include homes in Santa Maria that have security cameras installed.  The list would indicate which homeowners would be willing to allow the Sheriff Department to come view the recorded videos after a nearby crime was committed to look for evidence.  Now they currently have to walk down the street and inspect homes to see if they can find a security camera on a house nearby that may have helpful video footage. If you are interested in adding your name to such a list, please reply to the email that was sent to residents.
Board of Directors 2020 Election Results
Posted on Jul 12th, 2020

The results are in for the 2020-21 SMPOA board of directors elections. Ballots were sent to Keystone Residential Management, and compiled by Ali Boudin of Keystone.

The top four vote-getters are Carole DeBack (165, 3-year term), James Bourgeois (162, 2 years), Scott Gremillion (144, 1 year) and Don Ingram (119, 1 year). Don joins the board at its August meeting.

Keystone received ballots from 195 homeowners. Thanks to all who took part in the election.

Also, a reminder that Monday is the last day to submit questions to the board for the yearly question-and-answer session. Because of the inability to host an annual meeting this year, the board is taking questions by email at info@smpoabr.com and on its Facebook page. These questions will be answered by the board at its July meeting and published afterwards.

Note from Chief Tarleton of the St. George Fire Dept
Posted on Jan 23rd, 2015

The St. George Fire Dept will keep a close watch on the drainage by the underpass during a strong rain event. Chief Tarleton and his other unit chiefs will  check and do whatever is necessary to be sure that the drains are working properly.   He asks that as soon as any resident sees the water building up that the resident will email him at a designated email address of santamaria@stgeorgefire.com  This will go to all the unit chiefs immediately so someone will come to remedy the situation.
